Use this checklist if someone may have already replied to a fake recruiter or shared information, money, or documents.

Stop contact immediately
Do not keep replying by text, email, or chat.

Save the evidence
Keep screenshots, email addresses, phone numbers, check images, receipts, and messages.

Contact the bank or payment provider
If money moved or a check was deposited, call right away and explain it may be fraud.

Protect personal information
If you shared your Social Security number, ID, date of birth, or bank details, treat it as a possible identity theft risk.
5
Report the scam
Report it to the FTC, IC3, the job platform, and the real employer being impersonated.
